After some discussion, we've decided to go back to the older, and much simpler, DKP system that we used in Black Temple, with a few slight modifications to fit the current situation. In the past, this system has worked for us simply because we are really just a large group of friends who want nothing more than to see new content together, and picking up a few shiny things along the way is really more of a by product of or a stepping stone to that goal. We want to get back to those roots and make raiding fun again. However, what this also means is that we have to rely on each other to be fair minded and considerate.
I apologize in advance for the length of the post, but please read it carefully. We've felt the need to make sure that all possible events are outlined here. Due to problems that have occurred both recently and in the past we felt it in everyone's best interest to be as clear and concise regarding our intentions as possible. If there are any questions, please ask and we will be happy to explain.
***************
DKP Rules for Tier 10 (Icecrown Citadel)1 point awarded for raid attendance
1 point awarded per boss kill
All items excepting 2 handed weapons will cost 10 dkp (this includes items that are equipped in the ranged slot: wands, librams, weapons, etc). 2 handed weapons will cost 20 dkp (weapon costs for main spec fury warriors, in the event that we ever have one, may be considered at a later date).
Also, you are, by all means, allowed to spend points you do not yet have. This will give you a negative dkp balance. There is no penalty for doing this, however, please keep in mind that someone with a positive balance, or with a smaller dkp debt, will win the item if they bid on it against you. In most situations, someone with 0 dkp will win against someone with a negative balance. However, if it is the first raid of the person with a 0 balance, the person with the negative balance would have priority.
Items will be posted in raid warning and called for bid. At this time, please whisper the loot master that you are interested in the item under consideration. The person with the highest points wins the item. Please keep in mind that we will announce when the bidding is closed. In the interest of maintaining a good pace and distributing loot quickly and fairly, bids placed after that call will not be eligible. In the event of a tie, the people with the winning totals will be called to roll. From that point they can either roll for the item and the highest roll will win, or they can discuss among themselves who will receive the item. Please note: Passing an item will not make it uncontested in any situation. In a similar vein, bids of "if no one else wants it" will not grant you a free item.
There will also be a limitation in our DKP raids of two contested items per night. As we are currently only raiding one night a week, this is to help ensure that everyone gets the upgrades they need while maintaining a fairness of distribution. Also, please note, that a third item can be purchased if it is uncontested. If you have already received two items and are interested in a third, please make sure that you indicate that to the loot master at the time of bidding, for example: Interested (+2) or something of the sort. We are not in the business of sharding or offspecing things that can be used for main spec.
If no one wants an item, it will go to offspec. Offspec items are free rolled in open chat and have 0 dkp cost. This is mostly in the interest of allowing our hybrid classes to be able to fill a tanking or healing role as needed and to keep usable items from being sharded. Similar to our free roll system, there will be a limitation of one contested offspec item per night, any further interest in offspec items should be indicated with a
/roll 1-1. In the event that the only people who are interested in an item have received other offspec items that night, those interested will roll again. Items that are awarded as offspec and then found to be used for main spec will be charged a retroactive dkp cost after discussion with the person in possession of the item. If the item's offspec is questionable, the officers will discuss it with the person rolling at the time it is awarded. Officers are currently undergoing an evaluation regarding offspecs for pure dps classes (i.e. mage, rogue, warlock, hunter), but at the moment, the consensus is that pure dps classes are not eligible for offspec loot.
At the moment, we are still discussing the use and distribution of primordial saronite. It is likely we will be putting it to a raid vote in the near future as we do want to take everyone's feelings into consideration.
*Raid leadership also reserves the right to loot council, but will do our best to refrain from doing so except in extreme circumstances and we will always discuss our decision with those involved. Once again this is to promote fairness and the best interests of the raid.
*Raid leadership may, at any given time, ask a player to switch characters for the good of the raid. The most obvious examples are if we suddenly become short on healers or tanks. This would be an extremely rare occurrence, but, should it happen, we would consider it to be a long term if not permanent change. At that time, the player in question would have the option,
before the first raid on the new character, of having his or her dkp transferred from the old character to the new character. This is a one time only transfer. However, if a player decides on their own to switch characters, they will not receive a dkp transfer and the new character will not be guaranteed a spot in the raid.

Free Roll/ Non DKP RaidsVault of Archavon, should we attempt it as a guild raid, will be free rolled with no dkp cost.
If we attend multiple non dkp/ free roll raid instances in one evening, keep in mind that all loot rules will apply to the entire night and are not instance exclusive.
Free roll works just like it sounds. In instances where the dkp system is not being used (it will be announced at the start of the raid/instance), those who are interested in an item will type /roll. The player with the highest roll wins the item. However, keep in mind that there are limitations to the number of items you can win. Those are:
1. A player is eligible to win 1 contested item per
night. In the case of ToC25, that is extended to 1 contested item and 1 trophy.
2. Any other items a player is interested in beyond the first they should then express their interest with /roll 1-1. If they are the only person that wants the item, they may then still receive it.
3. There is no limit to the number of uncontested items a person may win/receive in one night. However, please be aware that receiving two or more uncontested items for your main spec may make you ineligible to receive a contested item at a later time in the evening. Once again this is to promote fairness and help distribute upgrades equally and in the best interest of the raid.
4. Raid leadership still reserves the right to loot council. Any overruled decision will be discussed with the parties involved. We will try to keep this occurring to a minimum.

Please keep in mind that the outlined system will only work provided we are all considerate of each other. For instance, make sure an item is truly an upgrade for you before bidding on it and refrain from saving your dkp for months for an item that many people will want just to be sure you are the person who will win it. If for some reason, we are unable to do this, the officers do reserve the right to re-evaluate and change the system if needed. We will make an announcement should that happen so that no one is caught unaware and will be sure that everyone is aware of the rules of the new system before progressing. This is not something we anticipate to be a problem, but it is something we will be looking out for.
Also, loot drama will not be tolerated. If there is a question or concern regarding an item that has dropped, please bring it privately to the attention of the officers in a calm and mature fashion. We are all adults here and should be able to treat each other with respect. And while we cannot promise that we will always agree with your opinion, we will listen and take your feelings into consideration and answer any questions you might have. Fair warning: tantrums may result in a raiding suspension.
Also, if you have not yet done so, please read Seid's post Some To Do's For New Raiders in order to get set up on our dkp site so that you can track and view your dkp, and make Seid's life a whole lot easier.
